BloomConnect Privacy
Last updated September 24, 2026
BloomConnect (formerly BloomSpell) is a daily word puzzle made by Local Robot LLC in Providence, Rhode Island. This notice describes the BloomConnect iOS app, including its optional Azalea Island account connection. It supplements our Privacy Policy and controls if the general policy describes a different practice for BloomConnect. The general policy continues to explain our service providers, international processing, legal bases, privacy rights, and request procedures.
Guest play stays on your device
You can play without an account. The puzzle bank, characters, and synthesized audio are included in the app, so the Meadow edition works offline. Saved puzzles, individual moves, hints, completed dates, friendship stamps, and preferences stay on your device unless you connect an account and a completion is submitted as described below. Guest gameplay is not sent to Local Robot.
BloomConnect has no advertising, advertising identifier, analytics SDK, or public leaderboard. Its account-connected pages use necessary authentication and security services, not advertising or marketing measurement.
Optional Azalea Island account
If you sign in, BloomConnect connects to your existing Local Robot account used by Azalea Island. It receives your account identifier and display name, your Azalea’s identifier, name and colors if you have one, and your recorded completion count and latest completion date. This lets your own Azalea appear as your puzzle guide and lets Local Robot record your completed daily puzzles. BloomConnect does not load your house, furniture, inventory, messages, or other Island activity.
Sign-in, registration, activation, and password recovery use Local Robot’s account pages in Apple’s secure sign-in browser. Creating a shared account collects your first and last name, email, password, date of birth, and the character names and colors you choose. Registration requires age 18 or older. Date of birth also supports the shared account’s Azalea Island birthday and zodiac features, as explained in the general Privacy Policy. These account details are not all copied into BloomConnect.
The app keeps its sign-in tokens and a limited cached profile in this device’s protected Keychain. It does not place tokens or passwords in the puzzle’s JavaScript storage or share its Keychain item with the Azalea Island app. The server keeps account-linked authentication and security records to operate and protect sign-in.
Recorded puzzle completions
For a puzzle associated with your signed-in account, BloomConnect sends the puzzle identifier, date, weather edition, content version, move and hint counts, and final arrangement of the 16 words. The server checks the final arrangement before recording completion. The completion record contains your account identifier, those puzzle details and counts, an answer-verification hash and version, and a recording timestamp. It does not store the submitted arrangement as a separate board, every move you made, your city, or your coordinates.
The completion record is private account progress, not a public score. A day is counted once per account. This feature does not restore your full puzzle board or scrapbook to another device and does not currently award Azalea Island furniture. We may use verified completion history to determine eligibility for future Azalea Island rewards when those rewards and their rules are announced.
When a completion cannot be sent, the app keeps it locally with the account it belongs to and can retry when that same account is connected. Another account cannot receive those saved results. Signing out stops account syncing but preserves these unsent results so you can reconnect later.
Account-page cookies and security
App-connected account, support, and policy pages use necessary cookies for sign-in, session continuity, preferences, and security. A short-lived Local Robot cookie preserves the app’s no-marketing context. Google reCAPTCHA uses its necessary _GRECAPTCHA cookie and device, application, interaction, and session signals to help prevent bots, fraud, and abuse. Local Robot controls that processing and Google acts as a service provider for that purpose.
Account forms and web requests can also create technical and security records, such as IP address, browser information, request time, and form or authentication status. These records support account operation, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention. This is separate from advertising tracking. App-connected flows do not send Meta advertising, Google Analytics, or Microsoft Clarity events; previously saved website marketing preferences do not turn those services on in these flows. Ordinary website visits you make separately remain subject to the website’s own choices and disclosures.
Optional Apple Weather
If you choose “Use my weather,” BloomConnect requests approximate location access while the app is in use. Apple’s location and WeatherKit services use that location to retrieve weather. BloomConnect does not save your current-location coordinates or send them to Local Robot, including when an account is connected. It does not request background location access.
You can instead search for a city. Apple’s geocoding service processes the city search, and the app saves the city’s label in your local preferences so you can use it again. The app keeps weather and location results temporarily in memory. A started puzzle saves only its weather edition and day or night appearance, not your current location. Apple processes service requests under its own privacy policy.
Weather is optional. Choose the Meadow edition in the weather menu to stop using weather for future puzzles. You can also revoke location permission in iOS Settings. A puzzle you already started keeps the same words and edition.
Sharing and feedback
When you choose to share a completed bloom, the app prepares its date, edition, hint count, and completion marks. It does not include your location or the puzzle’s answers. You choose the recipient and destination in the system share sheet.
Information you send to Local Robot for support or a privacy request is used to respond and handle the request. If you send feedback through TestFlight, Apple provides it and associated testing information under TestFlight’s terms. Apple may also provide app diagnostics according to your device and testing settings. BloomConnect does not add its own analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
Retention, sign-out, and deletion
Local puzzle data remains until you reset it, remove the app’s local data, or the app replaces it. Device backups are managed through your Apple settings. Account profile and completion records remain while needed to provide the account service and until removed through a valid deletion process, subject to security, legal, and backup limitations in the general Privacy Policy.
- Sign out: clears BloomConnect’s saved sign-in tokens and cached account profile and stops account syncing. It preserves local puzzles and account-bound unsent results. Browser sign-in cookies are managed separately by the browser.
- Reset progress: removes this device’s saved puzzles, stamps, city label, preferences, and unsent completion records. It does not delete your shared account or completions already recorded by Local Robot.
- Request account deletion: use the Azalea Island account area in BloomConnect’s Settings. This requests deletion of the shared Local Robot account, including associated Azalea Island data and BloomConnect completion history; it is not limited to BloomConnect. An accepted request clears that account’s pending local completion records and signs BloomConnect out when secure storage can be cleared. If sign-out cannot finish, the app tells you to retry it. Local puzzle and scrapbook data can be cleared separately with Reset progress.
Shared-account deletion is handled through a verified manual process. Local Robot aims to complete valid requests within seven days; verification, legal or security requirements, technical issues, and backup handling can affect that timing. Submission is not immediate deletion. You can also request access, export, correction, or deletion through our contact form with “Privacy Request” at the start of your message. We may retain limited request records, restricted backups, or records required for legal or security reasons as described in the general Privacy Policy.
